Real American hardwood, primed and ready to paint.
Most primed boards in this size are MDF or finger-jointed pine. Ours is solid poplar hardwood, the same wood all the way through, with a smooth factory-applied white primer. It cuts clean, holds nails without crumbling, and gives you a crisp painted finish that lasts.
At 1/2" thick and 2-1/2" wide, it’s the go-to size for board and batten walls, wainscoting, and flat trim. Its 36" length makes it easy to handle and ship, and it works well for crafts and small woodworking projects too.
- Solid poplar hardwood: Poplar is the trim wood professional painters prefer. It’s stronger and more dent-resistant than MDF, and it handles humidity better.
- Primed and paint-ready: Skip the priming step. Just cut, install, and paint.
- Kiln-dried for stability: Dried to help boards stay straight and true on the wall.
- Made in the USA: Sustainably sourced American hardwood, milled in Elkhart, Indiana, and graded to high quality standards.
- Versatile: Use it for board and batten, wainscoting, window and door trim, shelving cleats, crafts, and furniture accents.
Wanting to create a board & batten wall? This board is included in our Modern Board and Batten Kit.
Poplar is a light colored hardwood with large variations of color ranging from white to green to purple. Poplar is the preferred choice of professional painters. Solid hardwood boards deliver long-lasting durability and strength. Our boards are kiln-dried for added stability.
